Quick answer
Yes. An active Anytime Fitness membership works anywhere in the network, at 6,000+ gyms worldwide, 24/7, with your key fob or the app. Also, it’s included in every plan at no extra charge.
New members usually wait about 30 days before the fob opens clubs other than their home club.
However, this applies only to Anytime Fitness clubs. Your membership doesn’t work at Workout Anytime, Snap Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness, even though the names and hours sound alike.

How an Anytime Fitness membership works anywhere in the network
Even though an Anytime Fitness membership works anywhere, every member has a home club, the gym where they signed up and pay dues.
That club also holds your contract and handles billing, freezes and cancellation.
Your key fob or the Anytime Fitness app also opens other clubs. The official membership page calls it 24/7 access to 6,000+ gyms worldwide, across roughly 50 countries.
So your Anytime Fitness gym membership is local on paper, but the door access is global. Nothing changes in your price when you train at another club, whether it’s across town or in Tokyo.
The 30-day rule for new members
Most clubs switch on access to other locations after your first 30 days. The Australian membership agreement sets it at 31 days and requires an active, unsuspended membership.
Promo members, however, can be stricter. Anytime Fitness offer terms say the “Join and Get 30 Days Free” and “$0 Enrollment” deals give 30 days’ access to the participating club only.
Some newer clubs advertise “immediate worldwide gym access,” so ask your home club on day one. If a trip is coming up soon, that one question can save a wasted drive.

What you can and can’t use at other clubs
Your Anytime Fitness membership opens doors anywhere in the network the same way, but the extras don’t, because each owner decides what their club has and what’s included.
| Item | At other clubs | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Gym floor, weights and cardio | Yes | Part of every membership |
| Showers and restrooms | Yes | Every club has showers |
| Lockers | Sometimes | Some clubs only have cubbies |
| Tanning, hydromassage, sauna | Often no | Paid add-ons at your home club |
| Group or small-group training | Usually no | Booked and paid per club |
| Bringing a guest | Staffed hours only | Guests must sign in with staff |
Using your Anytime Fitness membership anywhere abroad
International access is included too, so the Anytime Fitness membership works anywhere abroad.
Anytime Fitness confirms members can use its gyms around the world, from Australia and Singapore to Mexico and the UK.
A US member visiting Sydney pays nothing extra, even though a local pays about A$18.95 a week. Our international price guide has the local rates.
One honest limit, though. I couldn’t find an official list of which countries block visiting members. It’s worth a quick email to the foreign club before a long trip.
How to use your Anytime Fitness membership anywhere you travel
This takes five minutes before you leave. Do it at home, because fixing a dead fob is much easier with your home club a short drive away.
- Check your access dateMake sure you’re past the first 30 days and your payments are current.
- Find clubs near where you’ll stayUse the official gym finder and save the address and staffed hours of the nearest club.
- Test your fobTry your fob at a second club near home, if there is one, before the trip.
- Set up app accessLog in to the Anytime Fitness app and check whether digital access works as a backup to the fob.
- Visit during staffed hours firstOn your first visit to a new club, go when staff are in so they can fix any access issue.
- Carry photo IDSome clubs ask visiting members to show ID or sign in at the desk.
My fob won’t open another Anytime Fitness club
This is a common travel complaint on Quora and Reddit. Usually, it comes down to one of the causes below.
| Issue | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Fob opens home club only | Still inside the first 30 days | Wait, or ask your home club to enable access |
| Fob stopped working everywhere | Missed payment or frozen account | Call your home club or ABC Financial |
| Fob worked last month, not now | Fob damaged or deactivated | Ask your home club for a replacement |
| Works at home, not abroad | Club or country restriction | Email the foreign club before you go |
| Forgot your fob | No fob, no entry | Use app access if set up; tailgating isn’t allowed |
Don’t follow another member through the door. Anytime Fitness bans tailgating for safety, so call your home club about a replacement fob instead.
Should you change your home club?
If you train at another club most of the time, it’s better to move your membership there than to use your Anytime Fitness membership anywhere but home.
Anytime Fitness says transfers are free when you relocate more than 10 miles.
Still, your new club can charge its own rate, higher or lower. Compare it using our Anytime Fitness membership plans guide before you switch.
Anytime Fitness access FAQ
Is there a limit on how often I can visit other clubs?
Anytime Fitness doesn’t publish a visit limit. If you use one club far more than your own, that owner may ask you to transfer your home club.
Can I use other clubs on a free pass?
No. Free passes are for one club, and they’re limited to local residents and new customers aged 18 or older.
Does my membership work at Anytime Fitness clubs in airports or hotels?
Only if it’s a real Anytime Fitness franchise club. Hotel gyms with similar names aren’t part of the network.
Do I need to register my fob at a new club?
Usually not. Some clubs ask first-time visitors to sign in during staffed hours so they know who’s using the gym.
Can I bring my kids to another club?
Children who aren’t members generally aren’t allowed. Each club sets its own minimum age for members, so check before you go.
