Anytime Fitness Membership Plans and Options Explained

Quick answer
Anytime Fitness membership plans at many US clubs come down to month-to-month or a 12-month contract. Some add 6-, 18- or 24-month terms. Also, every plan gets 24/7 access to your home gym.

Prices change club to club because each gym is a franchise. Anytime Fitness says the average monthly membership is about $53, and a longer contract usually lowers that.

What membership plans does Anytime Fitness offer?

An Anytime Fitness membership comes in two main plans at most clubs. Month-to-month costs more but lets you leave with notice. A 12-month contract, however, costs less per month.

The official membership page says some gyms also sell 6-, 12- and 18-month plans. A few clubs also quote 24-month deals. You won’t know which plans your club has until you check its page.

    PlanCommitmentTypical dues reportedBest for
Month-to-monthNone, cancel with notice$40 to $70 a monthNew members, travelers, anyone unsure

    12-month12 months$35 to $60 a monthPeople who already train 3+ days a week
    18 or 24-month18 to 24 months$30 to $55 a monthLong-term locals who won’t move

Still, these ranges come from member reports and club quotes, not a national price list. Our Anytime Fitness membership cost guide breaks the numbers down further.

Chart comparing Anytime Fitness month-to-month, 12-month and 24-month membership plans
Typical monthly dues by plan length at US clubs, based on reported ranges.

    Month-to-month plan

The month-to-month plan is the only option where you can walk away without an early termination fee. You still give notice, which is often 30 days at US clubs.

But you pay for that freedom. Expect the highest monthly dues and, at many clubs, an enrollment fee that 12-month buyers sometimes get waived during promos.

The 12-month plan and what happens if you leave early

The 12-month contract is the plan most clubs push, and it’s usually the cheapest per month. Leaving early can cost a buyout, sometimes 50% or more of what’s left.

So take this plan only if you already go to a gym regularly. If you’re starting from zero, one or two months on month-to-month tells you more than any sales pitch.

Other terms like 6, 18 and 24 months

Shorter and longer terms exist, but not everywhere. In Australia, the franchise agreement lists 12 and 18-month packages as the standard choices for most clubs.

A 24-month plan can drop dues to around $30 to $55. Yet that saving disappears fast if you move away in month nine and have to pay out the rest.

What every Anytime Fitness membership includes

Every Anytime Fitness gym membership shares the same core access. In other words, contract length changes your price and exit rules, not which doors your key fob opens.

    • 24/7 entry to your home club with a key fob or the Anytime Fitness app
    • Access to 6,000+ Anytime Fitness gyms worldwide once your membership is active
    • Private restrooms with showers (every club has showers; lockers vary)
    • The Anytime Fitness app with workout plans and a gym busy meter
    • Up to 3 months of Apple Fitness+ for new members, then $9.99 a month unless you cancel it
    • Free Wi-Fi at many clubs and an Evolt 360 body scan at some

That global access point matters more than people think. Read whether your membership can be used anywhere before you travel with it.

What costs extra on top of your plan?

The monthly dues on Anytime Fitness membership plans are only part of the bill. Most clubs add one-time fees at signup and some charge a yearly fee, so ask for the full first-month total in writing.

Extra feeTypical rangeWhat it pays for
Enrollment fee$0 to $99Signup paperwork; often waived during $0 enrollment promos
Key fob fee$20 to $50The fob that opens the door 24/7
Annual fee$0 to $60Charged once a year at some clubs
Personal trainingClub sets priceOne-on-one, small group (2 to 4) or team workouts (5+)
Tanning, hydromassage, saunaAdd-on at some clubsNot every location has these

So when someone asks about Anytime Fitness membership fees per month, the honest answer is dues plus a share of these fees. A $45 plan with a $99 enrollment really costs more in month one.

Anytime Fitness membership options for individuals, couples and families

Anytime Fitness lists joint and family memberships as available at some locations only. The second person usually pays a lower rate than the main member.

For example, one published deal is a corporate rate at a St. George, Utah club: $24.99 a month for the main member and $19.99 for a second person, plus a $19.99 key card fee.

Minors, however, are a separate question. There’s no national minimum age, and free passes require you to be 18, so teens need the club’s own rules and usually a parent on the agreement.

Discounts for students, seniors, military and insurance plans

Anytime Fitness says student, senior, military and insurance discounts exist at participating locations. None of them are guaranteed, so ask the club manager directly.

Some clubs take senior fitness programs such as SilverSneakers. Check the program’s own location search, because a club being listed there is the only reliable answer.

There’s also an HSA and FSA route. Anytime Fitness points members to a $15 virtual consult with Dr. B to get a Letter of Medical Necessity, which may let you pay dues with pre-tax money.

    Bi-weekly vs monthly billing

Many clubs, however, bill every 14 days, not once a month. That’s 26 payments a year, so a $25 bi-weekly charge adds up to $650 a year, not the $600 you might guess.

Billing for most US clubs also runs through ABC Financial Services. For payment changes or billing mistakes, Anytime Fitness lists their number as 888-827-9262.

Which Anytime Fitness plan should you pick?

Among Anytime Fitness membership plans, pick month-to-month unless you’re sure you’ll use the gym for a full year.

The few dollars you save on a contract aren’t worth much if you might move or stop going.

    1. Find nearby clubsOpen the official Anytime Fitness gym finder and list the 2 or 3 clubs closest to home or work.
    2. Check each club pageOpen each club’s page and note the plans, dues and any current promo such as $0 enrollment.
    3. Get a written quoteHave the club email the full price, including enrollment, key fob and any annual fee.
    4. Check the exit rulesFind out how many days of notice they need to cancel and what a contract buyout costs.
    5. Ask about freezesAsk whether you can pause the plan and what the monthly hold fee is.
    6. Compare the first-year totalAdd 12 or 26 payments plus all one-time fees, then pick the lowest total you’d really use.

Is an Anytime Fitness membership worth it?

It’s worth it if 24/7 access or travel access matters to you, and all Anytime Fitness membership plans include both.

Clubs are smaller than big-box gyms, and Anytime Fitness confirms none have pools or basketball courts.

If you only train after work and never travel, a cheaper big-box gym may fit better. I’d still try the free pass first, because club quality varies a lot by owner.

    Anytime Fitness membership plans FAQ

Does Anytime Fitness have a no-contract membership?

Many clubs offer month-to-month, which has no fixed term. You still sign an agreement and must give notice, often 30 days, to stop billing.

Can I switch from month-to-month to a 12-month plan later?

Most clubs will move you to a longer plan because it keeps you as a member. Ask whether your enrollment fee carries over so you don’t pay it twice.

Can I transfer my membership to a different Anytime Fitness club?

Yes. Anytime Fitness says memberships are transferable with no transfer fee when you move more than 10 miles, though your new club can set a different rate.

Can I give my membership to another person?

There’s no national rule allowing this. Some owners let a friend take over a contract, others don’t, so ask your home club before you promise it to anyone.

    Does my membership renew automatically?

Anytime Fitness says auto-renewal only happens if you opted in. Check your agreement, since many 12-month contracts roll into month-to-month after the term.

Is Apple Fitness+ free with an Anytime Fitness membership?

New US members can get up to 3 months of Apple Fitness+. After that it charges $9.99 a month unless you cancel it through Apple.
